A 2018 NPR report said the microchips are about the size of a single grain of rice and were becoming so popular at the time that one of the main companies producing them reported difficulty keeping up with the demand.
In 2021, people in Sweden are increasingly seeking to have microchips inserted into their bodies that contain their COVID-19 vaccination records, according to local media outlets. Their decisions come amid tightening pandemic restrictions heading into the winter, according to Aftonbladet.
According to digital cultures researcher Moa Petersen, around 6,000 people in Sweden have so far had a chip inserted in their hands.
A video recently shared by Aftonbladet, a Stockholm-based daily newspaper, showed one individual having a microchip inserted near the thumb on his right hand, a procedure that was performed quickly.
The paper’s video also featured other people who said they had had the microchips inserted in their hand, arm, or chest.
Those individuals then used their smartphone to detect the chip’s presence or swiped the portion of their body that contained the chip over door sensors to demonstrate how it worked.
In addition to vaccine passports, the chip replaces keys, ID cards, and even train tickets with them, thanks to radio frequency identification technology, a wireless system comprising tags and readers.
“Get your COVID certificate in a chip in your hand or elsewhere under the skin. It is increasingly popular to insert a chip into the body with different types of information and now you can also insert your COVID certificate in the chip,” Aftonbladet, Sweden’s daily newspaper, reported.
Public health officials in the country have recently urged citizens to get a COVID-19 booster shot as the virus’s spread continues internationally. Those encouragements continued as Swedish officials reported earlier this week that Omicron, the latest strain identified as a “variant of concern” by the World Health Organization, was detected in Sweden.
2 similar projects funded by Bill Gates are under way.
One aims to deliver an invisible quantum tattoo hidden in the coronavirus vaccine for storing your vaccination history. Another project would create your digital identity based on your vaccination history. Trust Stamp is a vaccination based digital identity program funded by Bill Gates and implemented by Mastercard and GAVI, that will soon link your biometric digital identity to your vaccination records.
Meanwhile, Pentagon scientists have already created a microchip which they want to inject in your body to detect coronavirus in your body even before you show any symptoms. They have also created a filter to extract the virus from your blood.
For most Americans, the idea of implanting a chip, which allows those, including the government, to track their movements, would be 1984 personified and rejected by a supermajority of U.S. citizens.
